Ongoing improvements in Downtown Naperville are part of the multi-year Downtown: Progress in Progress initiative that focuses on continued growth and improvements to enhance the pedestrian experience, improve compliance with accessibility requirements, reconstruct the roadways and repair and replace utilities in the downtown area. 

The 2023 phase of the project aims to rebuild Washington Street between Chicago Avenue and Benton Avenue and the east side of Main Street just south of Van Buren Avenue. The construction, which is tentatively scheduled to begin in summer of 2023, includes utility repair and upgrades, streetscape modernization, and complete road reconstruction.
